Reggie - Premises Liability
I have always been very athletic, but that all changed on July 13, 2001 because of the careless actions of a building worker.

I was on my way into the DSHS building in Tacoma to visit a caseworker for one the children I supervised in my job. I walked to the elevators, but the door was closing so I turned to find the stairs. That's when my whole leg slipped from under me and I fell to the ground. My main quadriceps muscle on my right leg tore in half and could not be repaired. The floor was wet. Someone had referred me to Thad and from the beginning I felt very comfortable with him.

During the case, he found out that a janitor for the building had mopped in front of the elevator, but he did not put down a wet floor sign. The janitor knew that he did not have any wet floor signs with him, but he mopped the floor anyway instead of getting a sign from the janitor's closet. This act of carelessness cost me my ability to run, jump and climb like I did prior to this incident.

The insurance company never offered a reasonable amount for my injuries so Thad took the case to trial and we got the largest slip and fall verdict ever in Washington State. The defendants appealed the trial and the case was remanded back for retrial over a technical mistake the trial judge made. The insurance company again would not offer a reasonable amount and without hesitation, Thad took the case back to a jury trial and we won the case again, obtaining a very high jury award.

This time the insurance company just paid up. I think Thad would have taken my case to trial as many times as it took to get justice done. I trust him completely and would recommend him to anyone.

What Clients Say

I hired Thad as my attorney and from the get-go he aggressively went after the club, proving that the club allowed the drunk man inside the building with a loaded gun after he had been kicked out once...Not many attorneys would have had the guts to really pursue this case through a jury trial and it was only after Thad's efforts that the case was ultimately settled."I hired Thad as my attorney and from the get-go he aggressively went after the club, proving that the club allowed the drunk man inside the building with a loaded gun after he had been kicked out once...Not many attorneys would have had the guts to really pursue this case through a jury trial and it was only after Thad's efforts that the case was ultimately settled."
